What both apps do
Both show your child’s latest location and a history of where they have been, send a notification when they arrive at or leave a saved place such as school or home, let your child press SOS to alert you, include a family chat and a battery warning, and can play a loud signal on the child’s phone when a normal notification is not enough. If those are the tools you use in Findmykids, you will find them in Geopapa.
Setup and who is connected
Findmykids creates a family circle: you install Findmykids, your child installs Pingo, and other family members can be added to the circle. Geopapa is a parent-to-child connection: you install Geopapa, your child installs Geopapa Kids or Funfriend, and a second parent can be linked to the same child. Both use an invitation code and both need location permissions set up together on the child’s phone.

Findmykids and Pingo details are taken from their own App Store listings, checked in September 2026. Plans and features change; confirm on findmykids.org before deciding. Usage statistics and listening in Geopapa need an Android child phone; on iPhone, app blocking follows Apple’s Screen Time rules.
App blocking and daily limits
On an Android child phone, Geopapa lets you block selected apps by name and set a daily time allowance per app from the parent app, and shows how much time went into each app. On an iPhone child device it works within Apple’s Screen Time rules: your child selects the apps once on their phone, and you remotely block everything, set a daily limit, limit categories or block during set hours. Your child sees which apps are limited, so the rule is visible rather than hidden. Findmykids’ listing offers app statistics for the school day; blocking and limits are not listed.
Listening: live and recorded
With your child’s Android phone and the microphone permission granted on it, Geopapa can play the sound around your child live and can save a recording you replay later, with a notification while it is being made. Listening time is counted per minute against the balance in your account. Findmykids’ App Store listing does not mention listening. On both apps this depends on the child’s phone, its permissions and its connection.
Tasks, rewards and the everyday connection
Geopapa adds tasks with rewards and deadlines that your child sees in their app, so the connection is not only about the map. Together with the chat and the loud signal, it gives you a reason to open the app that is not checking up on someone.
Where Findmykids is the better choice
Findmykids supports GPS watches, so it fits a child who does not have a phone yet, and it lets more family members join one circle. If you need either of those, Findmykids is the closer fit. Geopapa does not support watches.
What stays free
Findmykids offers all features free for seven days after first launch; after that, only online location stays free and the rest needs a plan. Geopapa is free to download, with a subscription inside the app. The current offer and any trial are shown in the app before you pay. Neither app can be installed secretly; both are designed to be set up with your child.
Switching from Findmykids
You do not have to remove Findmykids to try Geopapa. Install the parent app, connect the child app with the code, check that location updates arrive, and only then decide which one to keep. Two location apps running together will use more battery on the child’s phone, so avoid leaving both for long.
